Perhaps you’ve thought about taking some time out to relax and you’re considering taking a whole Spa vacation but just can’t seem to find the time. Using a Day Spa you can get that chance to relax and enjoy treatments without even packing your bag. Here are some ways to get the best out of a Day Spa.
Be careful when choosing a Day Spa: Look for Spas that have friendly, caring staff, from the person at the front desk to the massage therapist etc. All therapists should be licensed so be mindful of that. Be sure that it has a clean, sanitary, quiet, relaxing and well designed environment with soothing music, pleasant aromas and low lighting. They should also be well equipped with things such as hydrotherapy tubs, Saunas, Steam rooms, Vichy showers etc. There should be a menu explaining all the treatments offered and the staff who can answer any questions. It would be nice if they also include a request for you to fill out a medical disclosure questionnaire. Select your Spa treatments: At most Spas the basic treatments are massages, facials, body treatments, manicures and pedicures. Massages help to relax and get rid of muscle tension; facials basically deal with deep cleansing of the face and body treatments exfoliate and soften your skin. Though manicures and pedicures are basic treatments, many Halifax Spas don’t offer them. Of course you can combine services if you wish to.
Choose your therapist: You should be aware of the qualifications of the therapists you choose, simply because the quality of your therapists will determine the quality of your treatment. If possible you should try getting a personal reference and you should also give whether you’d prefer a male or female therapist some thought.
Prepare for you Spa experience: To enhance the benefits of your treatments you should drink plenty of water before and after sessions. You shouldn’t eat anything for at least an hour before or after your massage. Arrive for your sessions early so that you have time to enjoy the sauna or steam tub before your treatment. Most Spas have a meditation room; you can go there to calm your mind down before doing your treatments. You may also want to leave any valuables at home even though most Spas have lockers that lock.
Enjoy your Spa experience: To get a massage or body treatment all your clothes must be removed but generally you’re covered with sheets or large towels. Take deep, slow breaths before each treatment begins. Picture each muscle in your body relaxing. It helps to be open to the experience and also to communicate with the therapist, if you have any comments or feedbacks don’t hesitate to let them know. The therapist usually follows your lead so it’s entirely up to you if you want to speak or not.
Be appreciative: rather than rushing off when the treatment is completed, take some time out to regenerate.
Extend the Spa experience at home: That treatment that you’ve just enjoyed doesn’t have to end there; when you’re at home take care of yourself there as well. Most Halifax Spas have some of the products they use for sale, you don’t have to feel pressured to buy it but it’s not a bad idea to continue a skin care routine at home.
