One of the most popular events of its kind in Canada, the Halifax
Highland Games and Scottish Festival celebrates Scottish history
and culture. The Halifax Highland Games and Scottish Festival celebrates all facets of Scottish history and culture. The event runs from July 5 to July 9, 2007 and specially for this year, it is also a highlight of PipeFest 2007 and the 2007 International Gathering of the Clans in Nova Scotia. The Games on the Saturday are the centre-piece of the five days celebrating Scottish culture.
The Games include competitions in piping, drumming, highland dancing, pipe bands, and heavyweight events. The Festival consists of demonstrations of Scottish country dancing, crafts & celtic wares vendors, genealogy at the Clan tents and historic reenactment by the 78th Highland Regiment. Theme concessions, food vendors and beer tent with Celtic music on site. Other events during the week include a flag-raising ceremony on Thursday, the Kirkin o' the Tartans on Sunday and the Kilted Golf Tournament on Monday.
