I know what you're thinking: Why would I want to visit a cemetery?
Well, there's a good reason for it. This cemetery stands as the
final resting place of 121 of the victims of the Titanic, many
of them never identified. One particularly popular grave that
pulls in many visitors is that of J. Dawson, the person who Leonardo
Di Caprio's character in the hit film, Titanic, is based on.
Known as "Jock", he was a violinist in the ship's orchestra.
One of the prominent headstones of the unidentified Titanic victims
at Fairview is for an unidentified child found at the site of
the wreck, and the only child for whom a body was recovered. As
no one claimed the child, he was buried with funding from the
sailors of the recovery ship which found him.
Ultimately, the identity of this child was determined in early
November 2002 using DNA evidence. The child, his mother, and four
brothers all died in the Titanic disaster.
This cemetery can be found at 3720 Windsor St.
