This monument, found in Ferry Terminal Park, stands as a symbol
of unity and solidarity amongst the people of the world. Dartmouth,
Nova Scotia is situated on one side of a welcoming harbor on the
Atlantic Ocean.
It was here during the G7 Summit of June 1995 that the World
Peace Pavilion was officially opened by the seven visiting Foreign
Ministers.
The triangular shaped structure displays an international collection
of rocks and artifacts contributed by 80 countries in every corner
of the globe.
The exhibits include everything from the primitive to the artistically
sophisticated, all representing facets of the:
The pavilions glassed-in area displays all the exhibits in a
unifying ribbon of Nova Scotia sand. Each is neatly labeled with
a brief description of its significance. Famous contributions
to this structure include a part of the Great Wall of China and
a huge chunk of the Berlin Wall.
More exhibits will be added as the remaining nations contribute.
The pavilion was the brainchild and creative concept of a group
of young idealists calling themselves "Metro Youth for Global
Unity". Prominently lettered above the display is the motto
Let Your Vision Be World Embracing. Indeed, this is a
place that all should visit and enjoy.
