Moving to Halifax
Halifax is a city rich in both history and culture. It is a place of esteemed education, great beauty, and diverse community. It has been named the 14th Best Place to Live in Canada by Moneysense’s Magazine, (2011), based on climate, prosperity, access to healthcare, home affordability, crime rates and lifestyle.
Today’s Parent Magazine,(April 2001) listed Halifax the 3ed best place to live for Families.
“When graffiti ranks among major crime concerns, you know you're living in a safe city. That's one of Halifax's many strong points: the second-lowest crime rate, next to St. John's. This city has also made the most of its maritime environment, with a multitude of beaches and fishing and sailing opportunities, and has begun addressing a long-standing harbor pollution problem. On land, it shares with other top cities a wealth of parks, cycling paths and hiking trails, all topped with clean air. Halifax didn't perform quite as strongly in education, chalking up the second-lowest high-school completion rate, or in child care and economic factors, even with one of the lower child poverty rates among our surveyed cities.”
The Halifax Climate is typically moderate along the cost. In January the temperature is -2.7°C. Inland, however, that drops to about -4°C/-6°C. Summer in Halifax is quite cool — in the center of the city, it can be as warm as 25°C, but along the coast it’s typically to see temperatures that are 4°C/6°C cooler. |
