When visiting Halifax, be sure
to bring a jacket, as the city’s location on the Atlantic
Ocean creates a crisp, maritime climate. Summers are cool in temperature
and winters are moderate. The average high temperature in January
is around 29°F. In July, the average high is 74°F. Halifax
receives the most precipitation during the winter, averaging 6.6
inches of precipitation in December.
However, only a small percentage of Nova Scotia's annual precipitation
is in the form of snow: fog is present in Halifax about 120 days
out of the year. It’s good to know, however, that the fog
normally lasts for less than 12 hours.
